Google is planning to build ultra-high speed broadband networks in a one or a small number of locations across the United States. The plan is to deploy 1 GB, fiber optic connections directly to people's homes. This connection would be 100 times faster than what's currently offered to Modesto residents. This technology would put Modesto in the forefront of fiber technology worldwide.

Google has asked local governments and residents to express their interest in the fiber-optic trial. Working with the City of Modesto, its residents, and you — we can get Google's attention. And we need your help to get their attention.

Many cities have thought "outside the box" to catch Google's eye. Topeka, Kansas has changed their name to Google. The Mayor of Duluth, Minnesota jumped into a frigid Lake Superior.
